The multi-specialist operating theatre at Bufalini Hospital in Cesena, one of Italy's most prestigious healthcare facilities, underwent a major relamping project to further improve the comfort and practicality of these technologically advanced spaces.

To ensure that technological excellence of this level could be expressed to the fullest, the partner chosen for this challenge was 3F Filippi, which has been developing nationally and internationally recognised professional lighting solutions for over 70 years.

Given the premises, the challenge for 3F Filippi was to intervene with a relamping project that took into account sterile, completely aseptic environments in which patients could be operated on under conditions of extreme urgency.

Given the presence of the L 590 luminaire (previously installed by 3F Filippi), the solution was a retrofit, carried out without removing the existing lighting fixtures in the operating theatres, thus reducing intervention costs and contributing to a lower environmental impact, in line with all current sustainability strategies.

With the retrofit kit, the L 590 IP65 luminaires doubled their performance:

• Energy consumption halved
• Optimal illuminance levels maintained
• Simple and accessible maintenance of LEDs and electronic drivers
• Compliance with UNI12464-1 standards, with CRI >90 colour rendering and CCT 4000K colour temperature

The Bufalini Hospital has thus been able to benefit from extremely high-quality lighting, designed to meet the most stringent requirements of precision surgery.
